The Soft Belt is a comfortable padded lap restraint made from soft, strong 5cm webbing with a wide padded section against the patient's body, offering a more secure feel than a discrete webbing belt.
- Wide padded section provides a soft area against the patient's body
- Not recommended for patients who slide down the chair — a Chair Belt for Sliders is recommended instead for that behaviour
- Fitted by placing the padded section in front of the patient and wrapping the webbing around the chair frame on both sides, at the pelvic position or behind the back of the chair, then fastening the buckle behind the chair
- Padded section can also be placed across the chest for patients who may rock or lean forward, but not for patients liable to slide down the chair
- Suitable for large lounge chairs; on narrow chairs the surplus webbing may need to be wrapped around the chair a few times
- For use in a private home, authorisation is required from a suitable qualified person (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Clinical Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse, or Doctor) to confirm the product is safe and appropriate for the individual — not required for use in a care facility, where staff are already trained in safe use.
